World Chefs Day, 20.10.2005 - Activities in Myanmar

The Myanmar Chefs Association joined again the celebration of WACS ( World Association of Cooks Societies ) also in 2005.
The World Chefs Day was celebrated on the 20.10.05, where the over 8 Million member Chefs of the WACS world wide are invited to join in any activity which connects the public with the Chefs in sense of : Charity, Education , Donations, Vocational activities etc etc.The Myanmar Chefs Association ( MCA ) divided itself into 2 different activities:
1.) The General MCA activity which was driven by Myanmar` s rich Mohingar Breakfast, a theme which is since many years special and promoted by MCA.

The MCA donated on the 20.10.05 the total of 2700 portion of rich Mohingar Breakfast to people in Yangon.
This was in detail to :

Home of aged , - Theinbyu Road ( 900 portion Mohingar over three days )
This was guided by Culinary Ambassador and honorable life time member
of MCA, - U Than Lwin ( rtd. MHTT )
b.) Blind School , - Kyimidine ( 300 portion )
c.) Blind School , - Kwegyan - Insein ( 300 portion )
d.) Handicapped School, - Social Welfare ( 300 portion )
e.) AAR Vocational Training, 8 Miles, - ( 225 portion Mohingar )
f.) Eden Handicapped Service Center, - ( 225 portion Mohingar )
g.) Boys Orphanage, - Kyaik Waing Pgd.- RD ( 225 portion Mohingar )
h.) Girls Orphanage, - Parami Rd. ( 225 portion Mohingar )
All these activities were guided by MCA Member Isaac Gibson, with the support of Chefs Aye Myint, Thu Rain & Chef Alex.
They were accompanied by Daw Lillian Gyi from Social Welfare Department ( rtd.)

The Myanmar Chefs Association arrange all Mohingar in cooperation with Sein Oo Mohingar, the three times winner of the Traditional Mohingar Festival in Myanmar.
The idea to celebrate parts of the World Chefs Day 2005 in Myanmar, by cooking Mohingar for the people in need, came from Daw Saw Mon Hnin ( also often called the Mother of Myanmar Mohingar - after her long newspaper article on this special Myanmar Breakfast ).

2.) The MCA members held individual activities , where any hotel, restaurant chef and chefs team could do up to their own plan and idea celebrate the World Chefs Day.

Bagan District - Mandalay Section & respective Chefs
a.) Example from Bagan, where young people were taken into the Hotels Kitchen and could experience the live as a Chef ,- design to motivate young Myanmar and to give an idea what the live and job , " To Be a Chef " is all about.
b.) In a primary school between Bagan & Popa Mountain the MCA donated 3000 pencil to the students of the region.

Thandwe District - Rakhine Section & Chefs of the Region
a.) 6000 pencil were sent to schools of the district for young students

More activities were implemented around the country by members of MCA.
