International
Day of the Chef
“The
International Chefs Day was held in Iceland as scheduled.
I went with eight chefs to visit the home of Solheimar
in the country site of Iceland, 70 kilometres from
the capitol Reykjavik. We learnt about the activities
of Solheimar, which is a home of disabled people,
and we learned that they are producing organic vegetables,
candles, ceramics and many other artistic things that
they are selling across the country!
We
gave the inhabitants a lecture about the culinary
club of Iceland and of the international activities
of the culinary world, with speeches and photo show
from most of the competitions and activities such
as Lux 2002, Erfurt 2004 Olympics, Bocuse d’Or
2003 and 2005, World Cooks Tour for Hunger 2003, and
some Icelandic competitions. After the lecture we
had lunch which the chefs had prepared, with dishes
such as salmon with risotto, organic vegetables and
potatoes, and for dessert a chocolate cake with vanilla
and whipped cream. Everyone was very satisfied with
the meal and we went home happy.”
