Objective Provide a worldwide benefit for WACS members Make a statement regarding the importance of career development in our industry Create a new source of revenue for WACS and it’s membership Provide motivation for WACS members to unite and work towards a common goal Enhance the profile of the Chef in the public eye on A global scale wile giving a sense of pride to those who cook in the world. Will make a statement regarding the importance of career development Will demonstrate to the global community that our industry holds the depth and significance to be unified by like principles Will exhibit to our members a strong commitment to understanding the need for career planning and specific goals The WACS challenge to all culinarians is to step up and support the need for professional validation by being certified. The Business Side of Certification Create a new source of revenue for WACS and it’s membership Currently WACS has no significant product for sale which generates revenue for the Association other than membership The disbursal of funds would be split between WACS, the managing entity and each participating country With this proposal comes the opportunity to make educational and training goods available allowing WACS to gain revenue for approving such products Recertification, at regular intervals is the ongoing return revenue source. WACS Certification Provides motivation for WACS members to unite and work towards a common goal. Our alliance is one which drives one of the most prevalent industries in every membership country, the ability to once again unite and better our profession is a strong message to the world. The results of us achieving our goal will be evident in each country and its chefs that participate. Our validation of ones skills will make our branding effort stronger. What will Certification do? Enhance the profile of the WACS Chef in the public eye Certification brings a new validity to the chefs of every country who participates Globalization of standards and regulated evaluation of those standards by our own organization indicates that our governance is sophisticated enough to monitor our industry on it’s own accord Commitment to certification and the residual education benefits it mandates will only raise the professionalism of the chefs who chose to accept this challenge. WACS Certification WACS Certified Chef: WCC An individual who has limited supervisory responsibilities of within the culinary facility and is capable of executing any task regarding cookery WACS Certified Executive Chef: WCEC An individual who has full supervisory responsibilities of the culinary facility, is capable of executing any task regarding cookery and is financially responsible for the operation at a strategically decisive level. The Assessed Competencies: WACS Certified Chef Applied Sanitation Applied Nutrition Cooking Methodology Supervisory Development Education and experience Completion of secondary education Work experience at this and previous positions Culinary training Time Lines - Final feedback to be sent to CD’s by May - Administration of the program to be ready by July and sent to all WACS member countries - Certification to start by September |
